Identifying the modifiable and non-modifiable factors that encourage sedentary behavior participation and that are consequences of sedentary behavior in children and adolescents lends insight for strategies that could improve overall health throughout the lifespan. Using the Biopsychosocial Model as the foundation, this chapter draws attention to the unidirectional and bidirectional influences between sedentary behavior and various biological and physiological health factors, psychological factors, social influences, and physical environmental factors in children and adolescents. This chapter summarizes the current literature and provides critical translational implications and recommendations for policymakers, researchers, and clinicians to consider.</dcterms:abstract> <dc:language>eng</dc:language> <dcterms:isPartOf rdf:resource=""/> <dc:creator>McAlister, Kelsey L.</dc:creator> <dc:creator>Kanning, Martina</dc:creator> <bibo:uri rdf:resource=""/> <dc:contributor>Chapman, Tiffany M.</dc:contributor> <dcterms:available rdf:datatype="">2022-11-14T10:09:46Z</dcterms:available> <dc:contributor>Dunton, Genevieve F.</dc:contributor> <dc:contributor>Lange, Jan-Philipp</dc:contributor> <foaf:homepage rdf:resource="http://localhost:8080/jspui"/> <void:sparqlEndpoint rdf:resource="http://localhost/fuseki/dspace/sparql"/> <dc:creator>Dunton, Genevieve F.</dc:creator> <dc:rights>terms-of-use</dc:rights> <dc:contributor>Papini, Natalie M.</dc:contributor> <dc:contributor>Kanning, Martina</dc:contributor> <dc:creator>Chapman, Tiffany M.</dc:creator> <dc:creator>Moore, Kristen N.</dc:creator> <dc:contributor>Belcher, Britni R.</dc:contributor> <dcterms:rights rdf:resource=""/> <dc:contributor>Moore, Kristen N.</dc:contributor> <dc:creator>Belcher, Britni R.</dc:creator> <dc:creator>Papini, Natalie M.</dc:creator> <dc:contributor>McAlister, Kelsey L.</dc:contributor> <dc:date rdf:datatype="">2022-11-14T10:09:46Z</dc:date> <dcterms:issued>2022</dcterms:issued> <dc:creator>Yi, Li</dc:creator> <dc:creator>Lange, Jan-Philipp</dc:creator> <dc:contributor>Yi, Li</dc:contributor> </rdf:Description> </rdf:RDF>
