The contributors argue that “transitional justice” - understood as both a conceptual framework shaping discourses and a set of political practices - is a Janus-faced paradigm. Historically it has not always advanced but often hindered attempts to achieve historical memory and seek truth and justice. This raises the vital question: what other theoretical frameworks can best capture legacies of human rights crimes? Providing a historical view of current developments in Latin America’s reckoning processes, Legacies of State Violence and Transitional Justice in Latin America reflects on the meaning of the paradigm’s reception: what are the broader political and social consequences of supporting, appropriating, or rejecting the transitional justice paradigm?</dcterms:abstract> <dc:contributor>Schneider, Nina</dc:contributor> <dspace:isPartOfCollection rdf:resource="https://kops.uni-konstanz.de/rdf/resource/123456789/52"/> <dcterms:available rdf:datatype="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema#dateTime">2015-12-16T12:14:56Z</dcterms:available> <void:sparqlEndpoint rdf:resource="http://localhost/fuseki/dspace/sparql"/> <dc:language>eng</dc:language> <bibo:uri rdf:resource="https://kops.uni-konstanz.de/handle/123456789/32446"/> <dc:publisher>Lanham</dc:publisher> <bibo:issn>978-1-4985-1385-2</bibo:issn> <foaf:homepage rdf:resource="http://localhost:8080/jspui"/> <dcterms:title>Legacies of State Violence and Transitional Justice in Latin America : A Janus-Faced Paradigm?</dcterms:title> <dcterms:issued>2015</dcterms:issued> <dspace:isPartOfCollection rdf:resource="https://kops.uni-konstanz.de/rdf/resource/123456789/32"/> <dc:publisher>Lexington Books</dc:publisher> <dc:date rdf:datatype="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema#dateTime">2015-12-16T12:14:56Z</dc:date> <dcterms:isPartOf rdf:resource="https://kops.uni-konstanz.de/rdf/resource/123456789/52"/> <dcterms:isPartOf rdf:resource="https://kops.uni-konstanz.de/rdf/resource/123456789/32"/> </rdf:Description> </rdf:RDF>
