Innovationsförderliche Öffnungsprozesse : "Je mehr, desto besser?" Die Linearitätsannahme auf dem Prüfstand

dc.description.abstractBalance theoretical considerations suggest that the opening processes repeatedly recommended for promoting the innovativeness of a company (incl. increasing the potential for decentralised influence) involve specific risks (e.g. coordination problems). Without concurrent closure processes (promotion of integration) to absorb these greater risks, greater openness produces not a further increase but a drop in innovativeness. The first empirical demonstration of such a latent curvilinear relationship between opening processes and innovativeness in N = 192 organisations reveals the existence of such risks and points to effective absorptive counter-strategies. Conclusions are drawn for the theory and practice of innovation promotion.eng

kops.description.abstractAus balancetheoretischen Überlegungen wird abgeleitet, daß die zur Förderung der Innovativität einer Unternehmung immer wieder empfohlenen Öffnungsprozesse (u.a. Steigerung dezentraler Einflußpotentiale) spezifische Risiken implizieren (u.a. Konflikte und Koordinationsprobleme). Ohne parallele, diese Risiken abpuffernde Schließungsprozesse (Förderung von Integration) kommt es mit zunehmender Öffnung nicht zu einer weiteren Steigerung, sondern zu einer Senkung der resultierenden Innovativität. Der erstmalige empirische Nachweis einer solchen latent kurvilinearen Beziehung zwischen Öffnungsprozessen und Innovativität an N = 192 Organisationen legt den Tatbestand dieser Risiken offen. Zugleich werden wirksame kompensierende Gegenstrategien aufgezeigt. Aus den Ergebnissen werden Folgerungen für die Theorie und Praxis der Innovationsförderung gezogen.deu
