dc.description.abstractWe report on the emissive properties of two related bismuth complexes, LBiBr2 and LBi, with a monoanionic 2,6-diiminophenyl N,C,N pincer ligand L. The Bi(III) complex phosphoresces at 77 K, while the bismuthinidene Bi(I) species represents the first example of a phosphorescent bismuth complex that emits in the near infrared at room temperature.
