Zusammenfassung

The focus of this work is centered around the development of artificially created nanostructures – called mesocrystals – from two different materials to create a multicomponent, binary mesocrystal. To achieve this demanding task, a thorough understanding of the individual and combined self-assembly behavior of the involved nanomaterials is crucial. In this thesis, co-assembly will be pursued with iron oxide (IONCs) and platinum nanocubes (PtNCs) as the chosen elementary building units. These particles and their self assembling behaviorh ave been studied extensively, regarding their formation and self-assembly characteristics. Especially size and shape uniformity of the building units is crucial when it comes to achieving the ultimate goal of forming a binary mesocrystal which is first reported within this work.
