The radical pair is formed by ultrafast electron transfer (90 fs) from a ferrocene residue to a photoexcited Nile blue moiety. Its recombination proceeds on the picosecond time scale in a multiexponential fashion. The kinetic pattern is a manifestation of spin processes competing with electron transfer. Magnetic field effects on these kinetics allow one to disentangle the two contributions. Their temperature dependencies yield the activation parameters of the two processes. The discussion focuses on the mechanism of electron spin relaxation. Strong evidence for the Orbach/Kivelson mechanism will be given.</dcterms:abstract> <dc:creator>Gilch, Peter</dc:creator> <dc:contributor>Steiner, Ulrich</dc:contributor> <dc:creator>Steiner, Ulrich</dc:creator> <dcterms:rights rdf:resource="https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/2.0/legalcode"/> <dc:contributor>Härter, Peter</dc:contributor> <dc:rights>deposit-license</dc:rights> <bibo:uri rdf:resource="http://kops.uni-konstanz.de/handle/123456789/9601"/> <dc:date rdf:datatype="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema#dateTime">2011-03-24T18:13:03Z</dc:date> <dc:creator>Schiemann, Olav</dc:creator> <dcterms:issued>2005</dcterms:issued> <dcterms:bibliographicCitation>First publ. in: Journal of the American Chemical Society ; 127 (2005), 43. - S. 15228 -15235</dcterms:bibliographicCitation> <dc:creator>Härter, Peter</dc:creator> <dc:creator>Michel-Beyerle, Maria Elisabeth</dc:creator> <dc:contributor>Schiemann, Olav</dc:contributor> <dc:format>application/pdf</dc:format> </rdf:Description> </rdf:RDF>
