Hudert, Florian 2009 Asynchronous optical sampling 2011-03-24T17:57:10Z This work presentsthe application of a newly developed technique called asynchronous optical sampling, which can be used to investigate coherent phonon dynamics in solids. The experiental technique is described in detail as well as a variety of results on different solid state systems.<br />Experimental results for simple bulk semiconductor materials show the possibilies to investigate basic parameters like the sound velocity and acoustic dispersion. It is also shown, that this technique allows for an accurate non-invasive measurement of doping profiles in bulk semiconductor samples.<br />In addition to these simple examples, experimental results for GaAs/AlAs and InAs/GaSb semiconductor superlattices prove the full potential of this technique when applied to more complex semiconductor structures.
