The strain reduced nitrate to dinitrogen gas and was not able to use oxygen as an alternative electron acceptor. Cells were catalase-negative but superoxide-dismutase-positive. Resorcinol was completely oxidized to CO 2. 16s rRNA sequence analysis revealed a high similarity with sequences of Azoarcus evansii and Azoarcus folulyticus.
