2011-03-24T17:43:23Z 2005 application/pdf 2011-03-24T17:43:23Z Postsynaptic mechanisms and signal transduction pathways of muscle modulation through the neuropeptides proctolin, DF2 and allatostatin in Idotea emarginata (Crustacea, Isopoda) Postsynaptische Mechanismen und Signaltransduktionswege der Modulation muskulärer Parameter durch die Neuropeptide Proctolin, DF2 und Allatostatin in Idotea emarginata (Crustacea, Isopoda) The neuropeptides proctolin, DF2 and allatostain are present in the nervous system of the marine isopode Idotea emarginata.<br />In single fibre preparations proctolin und DF2 augment K+-induced contractures of extensor muscles, whereas allatostatin reduces contractures. DF2, but not proctolin, also enhances muscle depolarization. Blocking Ca2+-activated K+ channels (KCa) with the specific blocker iberiotoxin increases membrane resistance after applying proctolin but not in controls suggesting that KCa channels are recruited by proctolin. However, DF2 had no effect on these channels.<br />The proctolin effect on muscle contracture and also on KCa channels could not be observed after blocking the PKC with a cell permeable specific PKC inhibitor, but is mimicked by an activation of PKC with a specific PKC activator.<br />Inhibiting PKA by the specific blocker H-89 does not prevent the effects by proctolin or DF2.
