It seems that interaction with peers, e.g. social activities, are most helpful in the socialization process (Kim et al., 2005). But although it is undisputed that organized sport, for example, has a far-reaching in-tegration potential, there are only hypothetical assumptions for this at the work place. There-fore the purpose of this study is to examine the influence of a physical activity program at work place (PAPAW) on the social networks (SN) of new employee.
Methods
For this a quasi-experimental longitudinal study (Pre-Posttest-Design) with 64 newcomers from a German pharmacy organization between the ages of 18 to 51 years (M = 31.2, SD = 7.4 years) was conducted. The experimental group (EG; N=29) participated over ten weeks in a PAPAW (physical fitness, outdoor elements). To measure the SN of the EG and the control group (CG; N=35), a scale with the parameters size, status, density, range, and strength was used.
Results
The results indicate that EG and CG have no significant differences in the central examination areas (t1 & t2). While the included variables of the CG did not change over time, the size, range and strength of the EG increased particularly strongly. However, significant effects could only be identified for size (time: F=5.231; p Mess, Filip Sport als Medium zur organisationalen Sozialisation neuer Mitarbeiter? application/pdf 2011-03-24T15:38:35Z Mess, Filip
