Here we investigate the genomic basis of adaptive traits, focusing on a sympatrically diverging species pair of crater lake cichlid fishes. We identify the main quantitative trait loci (QTL) for two eco-morphological traits: body shape and pharyngeal jaw morphology. These traits diverge in parallel between benthic and limnetic species in the repeated adaptive radiations of this and other fish lineages. Remarkably, a single chromosomal region contains the highest effect size QTL for both traits. Transcriptomic data show that the QTL regions contain genes putatively under selection. Independent population genomic data corroborate QTL regions as areas of high differentiation between the sympatric sister species. Our results provide empirical support for current theoretical models that emphasize the importance of genetic linkage and pleiotropy in facilitating rapid divergence in sympatry.</dcterms:abstract> <dcterms:rights rdf:resource="http://nbn-resolving.de/urn:nbn:de:bsz:352-20150914100631302-4485392-8"/> <dcterms:available rdf:datatype="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema#dateTime">2017-02-08T14:29:09Z</dcterms:available> <dc:creator>Elmer, Kathryn R.</dc:creator> <dc:contributor>Kovacova, Viera</dc:contributor> <dc:contributor>Franchini, Paolo</dc:contributor> <bibo:uri rdf:resource="https://kops.uni-konstanz.de/handle/123456789/37224"/> <dc:creator>Fruciano, Carmelo</dc:creator> <dc:contributor>Fruciano, Carmelo</dc:contributor> <dc:contributor>Elmer, Kathryn R.</dc:contributor> <dc:creator>Henning, Frederico</dc:creator> <dc:language>eng</dc:language> <dc:contributor>Henning, Frederico</dc:contributor> <dc:date rdf:datatype="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema#dateTime">2017-02-08T14:29:09Z</dc:date> <dc:creator>Meyer, Axel</dc:creator> <dc:creator>Kovacova, Viera</dc:creator> <dc:contributor>Meyer, Axel</dc:contributor> <dc:creator>Franchini, Paolo</dc:creator> <dcterms:title>Genetic linkage of distinct adaptive traits in sympatrically speciating crater lake cichlid fish</dcterms:title> <dcterms:issued>2016-09-06</dcterms:issued> </rdf:Description> </rdf:RDF>
