Abstract
We review our methods for shaping of high-field multi-THz transients by means of complementary techniques of time-domain slicing and frequency-domain synthesis. In the first approach, mid-infrared waveforms are manipulated by slicing the pulse duration down to a single-cycle regime while maintaining peak field amplitude of 10 MV/cm. In the second approach, functional mid-infrared transients with controlled polar asymmetry are demonstrated. Access to these waveforms offers a robust experimental platform for investigation of fundamental light-matter interactions in novel condensed matter systems.
