Although much of the literature focuses on the political context, contentious litigation, or how to handle cross-border multiparty cases, this book has a different focus and a fresh approach. Taking as a starting-point the observation that mass litigation claims are a 'nuisance' for both parties and courts, the book considers new ways of settling mass disputes. Contributors from across the globe - Australia, Canada, China, Europe and the US, point towards an international convergence of the importance of settlements, mediation and alternative dispute resolution (ADR). They question whether the spread of a culture of settlement signifies a trend or philosophical desire for less confrontation in some societies, and explore the reasons for such a trend. Raising a series of questions on resolving mass disputes, and fuelling future debate, this book will provide a challenging and thought-provoking read for law academics, practitioners and policymakers.</dcterms:abstract> <foaf:homepage rdf:resource="http://localhost:8080/jspui"/> <dc:contributor>Hodges, Christopher</dc:contributor> <dc:rights>terms-of-use</dc:rights> <dc:publisher>Cheltenham [u.a.] : Elgar</dc:publisher> <dcterms:rights rdf:resource=""/> <dcterms:issued>2013</dcterms:issued> <void:sparqlEndpoint rdf:resource="http://localhost/fuseki/dspace/sparql"/> <bibo:uri rdf:resource=""/> <dc:date rdf:datatype="">2014-02-13T07:57:03Z</dc:date> <dcterms:available rdf:datatype="">2014-02-13T07:57:03Z</dcterms:available> <dspace:isPartOfCollection rdf:resource=""/> <dc:language>eng</dc:language> <bibo:issn>978-1-78254-690-0</bibo:issn> <dcterms:title>Resolving Mass Disputes : ADR and settlement of mass claims</dcterms:title> <dc:contributor>Stadler, Astrid</dc:contributor> <dcterms:isPartOf rdf:resource=""/> </rdf:Description> </rdf:RDF>
