Christian Brintzinger, Hans-Herbert The compounds (C<sub>5</sub>(CH<sub>3</sub>)<sub>5</sub>)Co(NO)X (X = Cl, Br, I) have been prepared by reaction of [(C<sub>5</sub>(CH<sub>3</sub>)<sub>5</sub>)Co]<sub>2</sub>(μ-NO)<sub>2</sub> with the appropriate dihalogen X<sub>2</sub>. Either by spontaneous decomposition or by addition of half an equivalent of [(C<sub>5</sub>(CH<sub>3</sub>)<sub>5</sub>)-CoCl]<sub>2</sub>(μ-Cl)<sub>2</sub>, the chloro derivative forms the binuclear complex [(C<sub>5</sub>(CH<sub>3</sub>)<sub>5</sub>)-CoCl]<sub>2</sub>(μ-NO)(μ-Cl), the crystal structure of which indicates the presence of a nitrosyl bridge without a metal-metal bond.
