It reveals the mechanisms underlying economic discrimination on the grounds of gender and addresses vital issues such as the questions why women are often excluded from leading positions through a so-called glass ceiling, which influence taxation has on this issue, and which role the behaviour of employers plays in a vicious circle of statistic discrimination. The contributions argue for a rational politics of gender equality and thus support the cultural change from domina privata to femina oeconomica.
