deu In the framework of the international study 'Media construction of national identities in the changing state structures of post-war Europe' the Austrian press reporting of a newspaper of high prestige ('Die Presse'), a regional paper ('Salzburger Nachrichten'), a party´s paper ('Arbeiterzeitung') and a yellow press paper ('Neue Kronen Zeitung') was analysed. The sample comprised political messages, editorials, reports and comments, which were published between 1946 and 1995 on days of national relevance (end of war, state contract, neutrality).
