Zusammenfassung
Only recently, media researchers and journalists have become aware that the media are not only a channel for delivering messages, but they create a crucial part of the policy making environment. The way media construct a conflict may either contribute to escalation or to deescalation of the conflict. Analysing some of the German press coverage of the peace processes in Northern Ireland and Israel/Palestine, the present paper focuses on the transition from war to peace and investigates whether journalists do have the capacity to contribute to the processes of peace building.
