A total of 365 undergraduates, 143 males and 222 females, participated in the study. The subjects' mean age was 22 years, and most were not married. In dealing with academicrelated problems, Malaysians used substantially more emotion-focused coping than did North Americans and Germans. North American and German students who had high scores on, emotion-focused coping experienced fewer symptoms, whereas the reverse relationship was found in the Malaysian group. The data on culturalpreferences in coping and control behavior are discussed.</dcterms:abstract> <dc:contributor>Essau, Cecilia</dc:contributor> <dcterms:rights rdf:resource=""/> <dcterms:title>Coping with university-related problems : a cross-cultural comparison</dcterms:title> <dcterms:hasPart rdf:resource=""/> <dc:date rdf:datatype="">2011-03-25T09:19:07Z</dc:date> <bibo:uri rdf:resource=""/> <dspace:isPartOfCollection rdf:resource=""/> <foaf:homepage rdf:resource="http://localhost:8080/jspui"/> <dc:rights>Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 2.0 Generic</dc:rights> <dcterms:issued>1996</dcterms:issued> <dcterms:bibliographicCitation>First publ. in: Journal of Cross-Cultural Psychology 27 (1996), 3, pp. 315-328</dcterms:bibliographicCitation> <dspace:hasBitstream rdf:resource=""/> <dc:creator>Essau, Cecilia</dc:creator> <dcterms:isPartOf rdf:resource=""/> <dc:format>application/pdf</dc:format> <dc:creator>Trommsdorff, Gisela</dc:creator> <dcterms:available rdf:datatype="">2011-03-25T09:19:07Z</dcterms:available> <dc:contributor>Trommsdorff, Gisela</dc:contributor> <dc:language>eng</dc:language> </rdf:Description> </rdf:RDF>
