It was also asked whether the support given to parents and perceived reciprocity are related to daughters felt burden as a result of their support. Cross-sectional, self report data were examined with multiple and multinomial logistic regression analyses. The analyses revealed positive relations between family values, relationship quality, and support to parents. Perceived reciprocity was associated with the exchange of intergenerational support, and imbalance in support had negative effects on the relationship quality. Felt burden was predicted by the extent of support and the perceived reciprocity. However, specific correlational patterns depending on the kind of support as well as differences in the importance of mother and father occurred. The findings are discussed against the background of the meaning of family obligations and reciprocity in a Western culture.</dcterms:abstract> <dcterms:isPartOf rdf:resource=""/> <dcterms:bibliographicCitation>First publ. in: Applied Psychology : An International Review ; 54 (2005), 3. - S. 396-417</dcterms:bibliographicCitation> <dcterms:title>Adult parent-child relationships : relationship quality, support, and reciprocity</dcterms:title> <foaf:homepage rdf:resource="http://localhost:8080/jspui"/> <dcterms:issued>2005</dcterms:issued> <dc:contributor>Mayer, Boris</dc:contributor> <dc:contributor>Albert, Isabelle</dc:contributor> <bibo:uri rdf:resource=""/> <dc:creator>Mayer, Boris</dc:creator> <dc:contributor>Trommsdorff, Gisela</dc:contributor> <dc:date rdf:datatype="">2011-03-25T09:14:17Z</dc:date> <dcterms:hasPart rdf:resource=""/> <dc:format>application/pdf</dc:format> <dc:contributor>Schwarz, Beate</dc:contributor> <dc:rights>terms-of-use</dc:rights> <dspace:isPartOfCollection rdf:resource=""/> <void:sparqlEndpoint rdf:resource="http://localhost/fuseki/dspace/sparql"/> <dc:creator>Schwarz, Beate</dc:creator> <dc:creator>Trommsdorff, Gisela</dc:creator> <dc:language>eng</dc:language> </rdf:Description> </rdf:RDF>
