Zusammenfassung
Curiosity is a basic driver for learning and development. The present study (N=182) assessed curiosity as a personality trait from two perspectives: self-ratings and observer ratings. The results indicate that self and observer ratings were based on different information. Observer relied on appearance-related cues of the target and projected their own personality traits onto the target. Conversely, self-ratings were more related to other traits such as emotional sensitivity rather than specific appearance-related cues. The findings suggest that curiosity represents a "visible" trait. However, self- and other conceptions diverge systematically.
