Zusammenfassung

Coherent particle vibrations of gold nanospheres on a solid surface are detected by optical spectroscopy and time-resolved x-ray scattering.Anewdominant mode arises,which is described by the monopolar mode symmetry forbidden of free spheres. Molecular dynamics studies of single-crystalline and polycrystalline particles confirm the assignment of these modes.
