Zusammenfassung
The present study develops a system of values in the literary work of Romain Gary. This system of values is clearly marked by Postmodernism, which explains the frequent occurence of the paradox in his novels. Beside this aspect, imagination and fantasy play an important part in presenting the specific ethical values. These values are therefore deeply aestheticised; the ethical perspective in the work of R. Gary is defined by aesthetics which are practiced in real life. The motto of most of Gary's characters is to have a life similar to a work of art. The work of art is not abstract, it should serve the community, the society, it should be governed by responsibility and fraternity.
The ethical perspective in Romain Gary's work is developed in this study with the support of secondary literature authors, such as: Hans Jonas "The Principle of Responsibility", Zygmunt Bauman "Postmodern Ethics" and of some studies of Michel Maffesoli. Also worthy of note is the philosophical series of articles "Morales" of the Paris publishing house Autrement.
Zusammenfassung in einer weiteren Sprache
Die Studie nimmt sich vor, ein Wertesystem im Werk von Romain Gary aufzustellen. Dieses Wertesystem ist durch die Postmoderne stark geprägt, so dass oft die Dimension der Paradoxie festzustellen ist. Außerdem spielt die Imagination und die Fantasie in den Romanen Garys eine bedeutende Rolle in der Abzeichnung der einzelnen Werte. Deshalb sind diese stark Ästhetisiert; die ethische Perspektive in seinem Werk definiert sich also durch eine in Praxis gestellte Ästhetik. Die Losung der meisten Figuren Garys lautet, das Leben so zu führen, dass letztendlich daraus ein Kunstwerk entsteht. Nur handelt es sich hier nicht um ein abstraktes Kunstwerk, sondern um ein Werk, das im Dienste der Mitmenschen stehen soll, also um ein durch Verantwortung und Brüderlichkeit geprägtes Werk.
Zur Erarbeitung der ethischen Lesart bei Romain Gary verhalfen Sekundärliteraturautoren wie: Hans Jonas mit dem "Prinzip Verantwortung", Zygmunt Bauman mit "Postmodern Ethics" und Studien von Michel Maffesoli zu diesem Thema. Erwähnenswert ist auch die philosophische Artikelreihe "Morales" aus dem Pariser Verlag Autrement.
