Zusammenfassung
A predominantly economic study, this book analyzes and compares the opportunities of men and women on the job market, with regards to income and career in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. It reveals the mechanisms underlying economic discrimination on the grounds of gender and addresses vital issues such as the questions why women are often excluded from leading positions through a so-called glass ceiling, which influence taxation has on this issue, and which role the behaviour of employers plays in a vicious circle of statistic discrimination. The contributions argue for a rational politics of gender equality and thus support the cultural change from domina privata to femina oeconomica. [publication in German]
