    <dcterms:abstract xml:lang="eng">The compounds (C&lt;sub&gt;5&lt;/sub&gt;(CH&lt;sub&gt;3&lt;/sub&gt;)&lt;sub&gt;5&lt;/sub&gt;)Co(NO)X (X = Cl, Br, I) have been prepared by reaction of [(C&lt;sub&gt;5&lt;/sub&gt;(CH&lt;sub&gt;3&lt;/sub&gt;)&lt;sub&gt;5&lt;/sub&gt;)Co]&lt;sub&gt;2&lt;/sub&gt;(μ-NO)&lt;sub&gt;2&lt;/sub&gt; with the appropriate dihalogen X&lt;sub&gt;2&lt;/sub&gt;. Either by spontaneous decomposition or by addition of half an equivalent of [(C&lt;sub&gt;5&lt;/sub&gt;(CH&lt;sub&gt;3&lt;/sub&gt;)&lt;sub&gt;5&lt;/sub&gt;)-CoCl]&lt;sub&gt;2&lt;/sub&gt;(μ-Cl)&lt;sub&gt;2&lt;/sub&gt;, the chloro derivative forms the binuclear complex [(C&lt;sub&gt;5&lt;/sub&gt;(CH&lt;sub&gt;3&lt;/sub&gt;)&lt;sub&gt;5&lt;/sub&gt;)-CoCl]&lt;sub&gt;2&lt;/sub&gt;(μ-NO)(μ-Cl), the crystal structure of which indicates the presence of a nitrosyl bridge without a metal-metal bond.</dcterms:abstract>
