Zusammenfassung
Théophile Gautier is certainly the most « photographical » author of the 19th century. Especially in his travel-book, Les vacances du lundi, we can find Gautier's poetological and photo graphical theory : the author discovers the surface of the earth, which has already been shown by the photographs of the Bisson brothers. The photographs show us the hidden beauty of the surface — a concept which will be extremely important for literary realism and naturalism.
