Open access is an important topic at universities in Germany: for the scientists as producers of scientific publications, for the university administration as financial backers, and for libraries as information suppliers. This article gives an overview of the current discussions and the developments of open access at the
universities. It focuses particularly on the expansion of institutional repositories and the use of open access journals, giving a short description of the information platform open-access.net. The author provides an outlook on the steps that need to be taken in the near future by university libraries and other parties in order to preserve access rights to scientific publications.
Zusammenfassung in einer weiteren Sprache
Open Access ist ein wichtiges Thema an den Hochschulen in Deutschland - für die Wissenschaftlerinnen und Wissenschaftler als Produzenten wissenschaftlicher Publikationen, für die Hochschulleitungen als Geldgeber, für die Bibliotheken als Informationsversorger. Der Artikel gibt einen Überblick über den Stand der Diskussion und der Entwicklung des Open Access an den Hochschulen. Ein besonderer Schwerpunkt liegt auf der Darstellung des Ausbaus der institutionellen Repositorien und des Umgangs mit Open-Access-Zeitschriften sowie in der kurzen Beschreibung der Informationsplattform open-access.net.In einem Ausblick werden die Schritte benannt, die in der nahen Zukunft von den Hochschulbibliotheken und den beteiligten Akteuren gegangen werden müssen, um das Zugriffsrecht auf wissenschaftliche Publikationen zu erhalten.
