Zusammenfassung

Evoked Potentials from schizophrenic persons show a number of replicated abnormalities compared to healthy controls. In detail, it is a reduction of the P100-N100 complex and the P300 in the early endogenous EP, in the late potentials a lower amplitude in the terminaly CNV and a prolonged PINV is found. Especially the findings in the LP point to a threshold regulation problem in activation of neuronal networks in schizophrenics. Within a connexionist framework this view leads to the idea, that also in the spontaneous and functional EEG of schizophrenic patients there may be some more peculiarities, than the well know amplification of low frequencies in the powerspectrum. The nonlinear analysis may be a method to detect these peculiarities and recent experimental EEG studys wthin an nonlinear approach are asking for some closer look to the deterministic features of EEG-Signals from schizophrenic patients. In the present study the EEG was recorded from 15 acute hospitalized subjects, diagnosed as schizophrenic after the criterions of the ICD-10 and from 15 healthy controls, using all electrodes according to the 10-20 system under the following conditions: Condition1, 'eyes closed - quiet' ; Condition 2, 'eyes closed - wordfluency task'; condition 3, 'eyes open - watching a rubin vase' and condition 4 'eyes open - watching a double pendulum'. Using a semi structured interview the psychopathology of each schizophrenic subject was rated with the BPRS and the psychopharmacons were noted.. The controls were matched in sex, age, education, qualification and handednes. Artifact free 30 seconds EEG epoches were analysed by dynamical analysis using a multichannel embeding of max. 15 electrodes and by determing the powerspectrum of the delta- and alpha band at the electrode Cz. For the nonlinear analysis we use a biparametric version of the dimension analysis leading to the parameters m* and b0; m* describing the unfolding of the attractor during the e
