Zusammenfassung

Cet article propose une réflexion sur la place des fautes dans l’histoire de la photographie. Partant d’un nombre de manuels photographiques de la fin du XIXe et du début du XXe siècle, il sera question de la photographie comme langue dans laquelle la faute et la norme entrent en relation dialectique, établissant ainsi une véritable orthographe de la photographie – une « orthophotographie ». L’article se conclut par une proposition de typologie des fautes photographiques selon la manière dont elles s’inscrivent dans le programme théorique du médium.

Zusammenfassung in einer weiteren Sprache

This paper reconsiders the place of mistakes and failures within the history of photography. Drawing on the analysis of a couple of photographic handbooks of the late 19th and early 20th century, it will be suggested to define photography as a language in which norm and failure enter in a dialectic relationship estabishing thus a photographic orthography – a « orthophotography ». The paper concludes by proposing a typology of photographic mistakes based on the different ways they relate to the photographic program of the medium.
