Zusammenfassung

In this chapter, we discuss how digital-augmented and virtual environments change the provision of knowledge and how access to them gets learners more immersive experiences for spatial learning. The chapter starts with defining the continuum between reality and virtual environments. The discussion begins with theories of media education and concepts for spatial learning in science education, followed by a general description of learning with and about virtual technologies, with a specific focus on science education. The chapter closes with an outlook into the future.
