Zusammenfassung

In recent years, the concept of the Migration-Mobility Nexus (MMN) has emerged as a pivotal framework for the study of human movement. This entry introduces the MMN and the three con-cepts that comprise it: migration (long-term movement across international borders), mobility (movement not included in the migration definition), and the nexus, which is polysemic and can refer to the state of being connected, a connected group or series, or a point of convergence. Recent research builds on this conceptual diversity and offers three related readings of the MMN: as a dynamic continuum, a historical process, and a mutually constitutive dyad. The continuum focuses on the space between migration and mobility, while the process understands the two concepts as elements of a historical sequence in which one gradually replaces the other. Finally, the dyad high-lights their interdependence and the way they influence each other.
