Zusammenfassung

Optically excited surface plasmons have been used as a probe for pulsed laser desorption of organic compounds from a metal surface. Changes in the adsorbed film thickness less than 1 Å are easily detected on a nanosecond time scale. Furthermore, a transient previous term laser-induced increase of the dielectric constant of the adsorbate is observed.
