Zusammenfassung

This chapter deals with search engines for the World-Wide Web. Here users issue search requests and expect the search engine to deliver a list of links to webpages that are as relevant as possible for the search requests. This is not an easy task as there may be thousands or hundreds of thousands of webpages that contain the requested phrases, so the problem is to determine those webpages that are most relevant for the users.
