Zusammenfassung
A new strand of literature has recently sought to investigate possible links between technological changes, observed modifications to firms' organizational structure and the evolution of the wage gap between skilled and unskilled workers. After a brief overview of such approaches, this essay follows up on what appears to be the most profound impact of recent organizational changes on the wage structure, namely the qualitative stratification of workers across firms. In an extension to a popular model by Michael Kremer and Eric Maskin, we first show how newer organizational forms have fostered such a stratification, and then proceed to investigate its effects on the skill-premium.
