Zusammenfassung

Replication fidelity: How do DNA polymerases ensure selectivity? Further insights into interactions between a DNA polymerase and the sugar moiety of the template nucleotide were gained through functional enzyme studies, which employed site-specifically modified DNA substrates (see scheme). The results suggest that steric hindrance by the sugar moiety of incoming nucleotide triphosphates primarily plays an important role.
