The thesis analyzes Handel's late opera ALCINA, especially the composer's art of leading the opera seria to a culmination and, at the same time, drawing historically a huge bow from the beginnings of the genre opera to its future.
Zusammenfassung in einer weiteren Sprache
Diese Arbeit untersucht, wie Händel in seiner späten Oper ALCINA (1735) die Gattung der opera seria zu einem Höhepunkt führt und dabei, historisch betrachtet, einen unglaublich grossen Bogen von den Anfängen der Oper (1600) bis in ihre Zukunft (1800) spannt.
