Zusammenfassung
This guide addresses the steps required to prepare and conduct an experience sampling study via mobile phones. Helping to plan the study, the guide identifies the experience sampling design appropriate for the research question. We describe factors that affect the duration and frequency of the study and outline the functionality of software applications for mobile sampling. To conduct the study, the guide recommends useful research practices to organize the data collection and communicate with participants. We contrast different approaches to compensating participants and discuss recruitment and study monitoring strategies. For analyzing the data collected, the guide compares different statistical methods and specifies the conditions for using them. We show how mixed-effects regression models can be applied to a dataset and illustrate the process of data preparation and visualization of model results with examples.
