    <dcterms:abstract xml:lang="eng">American Film Stories compiles a selection of short stories by American authors about the medium of film. The anthology includes short stories about the process of film production, the reception of films, and on the issue of "life imitating film," as editor Reingard M. Nischik puts it.  Recurrent themes of the selection are illusion often developing into disillusion as well as the artificiality of the medium film from the writers’ perspectives.
