Entwicklung und Nutzung eines Information-Quality-Rating-Tools am Beispiel von Content-Management-Systemen

Abstract

The thesis describes the software realisation of a framework for the evaluation of the Information Quality (IQ) from Information Systems and Information Resources. The framework was evolved at the University of Konstanz, Chair for Information Science. The developed Rating software supports evaluations on the basis of ratio measurement schemas, metrical scaling, free weighting factors for criteria and ranking functions. The tool manages quality dimensions, quality criteria, quality indices, evaluations and evaluation objects. The results are presented in matrices. The system is role-based and free accessible in the internet. The thesis describes the requirements for rating tools further the functionality of the resulting rating software and the restrictions for a installation. A guideline explains how to execute tool-based evaluations. Subsequent, the software is used for the evaluation of quality criteria of Web Content Management Systems (WCMS). Therefore, the processes, techniques and components used in Web Content Management are illustrated and a WCMS function catalogue is worked out. This is followed by the differentiation of the term and the content of Information Quality . Methods and quality criteria used in the fields of Infrastructure-, Software-, Data-, Usability- and Resource Quality are pointed out with an emphasis on IQ Frameworks. They combine, structure, define criteria and dimensions of Information Quality. One of the three presented frameworks is then used for the evaluation. Its criteria are compiled into a quality catalogue. The WCMS functions serve as detailed criteria for the quality of information. The importance of the criteria are determined by an WCMS user poll. It s done within employees of a german finance company. After all, the result is a user-orientated ratio measurement schema which could be used for the rating of existing WCMS. At the head, it considers general quality criteria and their assignment to the scope of IQ Management.
