Based on a pragmatic understanding of information, information engineering is defined as both a technical and social discipline in which the intermediary functions of information work are most important. These functions are currently undergoing significant transformation, in particular through the delegation of information work to technical assistants. Different types of information assistants are presented, with particular attention to communication assistants. Besides the technical aspects, the importance of trust engineering or trust management as a success factor for electronic information products is discussed.
Zusammenfassung in einer weiteren Sprache
Im Ausgang von einem pragmatischen Verständnis wird Information Engineering als Informationsarbeit für Mittlerleistungen bestimmt. Deren gegenwärtige Transformation wird vor allem durch die Delegation von Informationsarbeit an technische Assistenten bestimmt. Die Ausprägungen technischer Assistenz werden vorgestellt und speziell am Beispiel der Kommunikationsassistenten näher diskutiert. Neben den technischen Aspekten werden Fragen des Vertrauens in technische Assistenten ausführlich diskutiert. Vertrauensmanagement, Trust Engineering, ist entscheidender Faktor für Erfolg und Akzeptanz elektronischer Informationsdienstleistungen. Die Mechanismen der Vertrauensbildung werden allgemein und mit Blick auf technische Assistenten herausgestellt.
