Für die Herstellung von Chemikalien aus Mikroalgenlipiden wurde die komplette Wertschöpfungskette von der Alge zur Chemikalie untersucht: Die Mikroalgen wurden zuerst gentechnisch optimiert, mit unterschiedlichen Methoden extrahiert und die so gewonnenen Algenöle analysiert und als Ausgangsmaterial für die Synthese von Polymerbausteinen genutzt.
