Virtual corporations are considered to be the future of the corporate world. This type of organisational or corporate structure is very well geared to face the growing demands of an ever-changing market. Furthermore, virtual corporations are very well-suited to support the demands that corporations face in a global market, which forces the business world to re-think the structure of labour in general as well as future synergy between people. Besides questions regarding the economical, organisational, and judicial structure of virtual corporations, the main emphasis lies on technical challenges and problems, which have to be discussed in detail to find viable solutions. The appropriate information and communication technologies are considered to be one of the main factors for the success of virtual corporations. Internet technologies have been introduced to the corporate world in the form of Intranets, which provides a practical technological basis for virtual corporations. This approach provides the basic focal point for this paper. A discussion of the theoretical fundamentals will be followed by a discussion of possible forms of virtual corporations. At the same time, a summary of technical requirements of common corporations and specifically virtual corporations will supplement this discussion. The results of these discussions will help to provide a view of the market of potential Intranet products. This will be closed by an in-depth look at two specific Intranet products. Additionally, we will discuss the potential of new technologies in general as well as the potential of individual products of third parties regarding their use for virtual corporations.
Zusammenfassung in einer weiteren Sprache
Virtuelle Unternehmen gelten als Unternehmenstyp der Zukunft. Dieser Form der Organisations- bzw. Unternehmensstruktur werden die besten Chancen beigemessen, den steigenden Anforderungen hinsichtlich sich stets verändernder Marktsituationen, des immer größer werdenden Konkurrenzdruckes oder aber beispielsweise der zunehmenden Globalisierung und den damit zwangsweise verbundenen neuen Formen des Arbeitens sowie des Zusammenarbeitens in Zukunft gewachsen zu sein. Neben einer Vielzahl an betriebswirtschaftlichen, organisatorischen und rechtlichen Fragen, die es im Umfeld dieses Unternehmenstyps zu klären gilt, müssen verstärkt Fragen, Anforderungen sowie Probleme hinsichtlich der Technik erörtert und gelöst werden. Eine entsprechend notwendige Informations- und Kommunikationstechnologie gilt als ein wesentlicher Erfolgsfaktor für Virtuelle Unternehmen. Internet-Technologie hat in Form von Intranets Einzug in die Informations- und Kommunikationswelt von Unternehmen gehalten und stellt somit eine technologische Basis für Virtuelle Unternehmen in der Praxis dar. Diese Technologie ist gleichzeitig auch Ausgangspunkt der Betrachtungen innerhalb dieser Arbeit. Nach Erläuterung theoretischer Grundlagen wird darauf aufbauend eine Abstufung hinsichtlich möglicher Ausbaustufen Virtueller Unternehmen ermittelt. Parallel erfolgt eine Zusammenstellung an Funktionen, die reale Unternehmen und im besonderen Virtuelle Unternehmen von der Technik fordern. Diese Ergebnisse dienen einer anschließenden Marktübersicht potentieller Intranet-Produkte, die im Anschluß dessen durch eine konkrete Untersuchung von zwei dieser Intranet-Produkte abgeschlossen wird. Ergänzend werden Potentiale neuer Technologien und auch Potentiale individueller Produkte Dritter hinsichtlich ihrer Verwendung im Umfeld Virtueller Unternehmen vorgestellt.
