Abstract
The following study was designed to test electrical brain activation induced by emotional environmental sounds (from the International Affective Digitized Sounds System). Their affective valence was either pleasant, unpleasant, or neutral. The sounds were presented on the left ear, on the right ear, and on both ears in a pseudo randomized order. Alpha (8-12 Hz), beta (13-20 Hz) and gamma (21-80 Hz) frequency bands were examined. The analysis of frequency bands revealed that neuronal processing of emotional environmental sounds is amplified compared to neutral sounds mainly at right parietal and left and right temporal sites.
