| dc.description.abstract | The coniferous genus Phyllocladus comprises five evergreen taxa. All are characterized by a dramatic change in their foliage. Seedlings have small needle-leaves. On adults the photosynthesis is mainly carried out by leaf-like, two-dimensional flattened phylloclades. Phylloclades of Phyllocladus represent a complex fusion product of lateral short-shoots and their inserted foliage. The morphology and biology of this unique coniferous genus is introduced. | |
