Title in another language: Magnetische Quantenoszillationen in quasizweidimensionalen Metallen
Summary:
A detailed theoretical study of magnetic quantum oscillations (MQO) in twodimensional and quasi2D metals is proposed. The standard LifshitzKosevich formula does not explain many new effects here. First part of the thesis is devoted to the de Haas van Alphen effect in 2D and quasi2D case. The detailed introduction is given in chapters 1 and 2. In chapter 2 an influence of different factors (that exist in real experiments) is studied in a simple way. In chapter 3 a general formula for magnetization oscillations is derived for arbitrary parameters that allows a quantitative comparison between theory and experiment. In addition, a method of direct extracting of the density of electron states distribution from experimental curve of magnetization and a method of testing the oneparticle approximation are proposed. In the second part a theory of magnetoresistance oscillations in quasi2D metals is developed for the first time (chapter 4). This theory explains two new qualitative effects, namely, the phase shift of beats and the slow oscillations of conductivity in quasi2D organic compounds. Two different theoretical approaches have been applied to this problem: the Boltzmann transport equation and the Feinmann diagram technique. It is shown that both these effects are a general feature of quasi2D case and they arise when warping of the Fermi surface becomes comparable to the cyclotron frequency. The consequences and possible application of these effects are discussed.
