The basis of atomistic models is outlined. The model is applied to studies of fast laser heating of magnetic materials. In particular it is demonstrated that the magnetisation vanishes in a timescale of picoseconds, whereas the recovery of the magnetisation can take of the order of 1 ns because of the necessity for the magnetisation to grow from a large number of small nuclei. Finally we review the progress in linking atomistic and micromagnetic models in a step toward creating macroscopic models of magnetic materials at temperatures approaching the Curie temperature.</dcterms:abstract> <dc:creator>Chubykalo-Fesenko, Oksana</dc:creator> <dcterms:available rdf:datatype="">2011-03-22T17:51:58Z</dcterms:available> <dc:language>eng</dc:language> <dc:creator>Hinzke, Denise</dc:creator> <dc:contributor>Chubykalo-Fesenko, Oksana</dc:contributor> <bibo:uri rdf:resource=""/> <dcterms:bibliographicCitation>Publ. in: Physica status solidi (b) 244 (2007), 12, pp. 4389 - 4393</dcterms:bibliographicCitation> <dc:date rdf:datatype="">2011-03-22T17:51:58Z</dc:date> <dc:creator>Nowak, Ulrich</dc:creator> <foaf:homepage rdf:resource="http://localhost:8080/jspui"/> <dspace:isPartOfCollection rdf:resource=""/> <dc:contributor>Hinzke, Denise</dc:contributor> <dcterms:issued>2007</dcterms:issued> <dcterms:rights rdf:resource=""/> <dc:contributor>Kazantseva, Natalia</dc:contributor> <dc:creator>Chantrell, Roy W.</dc:creator> <dc:contributor>Chantrell, Roy W.</dc:contributor> </rdf:Description> </rdf:RDF>
