Röhrichtschutz und Uferrenaturierung am Bodensee

The causes of the reed decline (Phragmites austraJis) in Lake Constance-Untersee and -Obersee are discussed, and countermeasures following from the causes are presented. Winter cutting of the dead reed stalks has been shown to be not a suitable way of management: the capability of resistance of reed against natural stressors is lowered. At present different types of lakeshore restoration measures are tested in Lake Constance-Obersee; they are designed to replenish the sediments which have been washed out by bankerosion, and to give the remaining reed belts a better protection against mechanical damage. Moreover, new reed plantations have been established at some places. The investigations accompanying the restoration projects will be continued.

Die Ursachen des Röhrichtrückgangs am Bodensee-Untersee und am Bodensee-Obersee sowie die daraus folgenden Pflege- und Renaturierungsprogramme werden diskutiert. Der Winterschnitt des Schilfs (Phragmites australis) Am Untersee stellt keine geeignete Pflegemaßnahme dar; vielmehr bedeutet er eine Schwächung der Bestände gegenüber natürlichen Stressoren. Am Obersee werden derzeit verschiedene Renaturierungsmaßnahmen erprobt, die die durch Ufererosion verlorengegangenen Sedimentmengen ausgleichen und dem Schilf einen erhöhten Schutz vor mechanischen Belastungen geben sollen. Zusätzlich wurde Schilf neu angepflanzt. Die Maßnahmen werden kurz vorgestellt. Die Begleituntersuchungen dauern noch an.
