Yet, the modulatory effect of speaking two typologically highly similar languages on inhibitory control performance remains largely unexplored. However, this is a critical issue because it speaks directly to the organisation of the multilingual's cognitive architecture. In this study, we examined the influence of typological similarity on inhibitory control performance via a spatial Stroop paradigm in native Italian and native Dutch late learners of Spanish. Contrary to our hypothesis, we did not find evidence for a differential Stroop effect size for the typologically similar group (Italian–Spanish) compared to the typologically dissimilar group (Dutch–Spanish). Our results therefore suggest a limited influence of typological similarity on inhibitory control performance. The study has critical implications for characterising inhibitory control processes in multilinguals.</dcterms:abstract> <dc:creator>Von Grebmer Zu Wolfsthurn, Sarah</dc:creator> <dc:language>eng</dc:language> <dcterms:rights rdf:resource="http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/"/> <dspace:isPartOfCollection rdf:resource="https://kops.uni-konstanz.de/rdf/resource/123456789/45"/> <foaf:homepage rdf:resource="http://localhost:8080/jspui"/> <void:sparqlEndpoint rdf:resource="http://localhost/fuseki/dspace/sparql"/> <dc:date rdf:datatype="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema#dateTime">2022-08-16T12:00:56Z</dc:date> <dc:contributor>Gupta, Anna</dc:contributor> <dcterms:available rdf:datatype="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema#dateTime">2022-08-16T12:00:56Z</dcterms:available> <dcterms:title>When left is right : the role of typological similarity in multilinguals’ inhibitory control performance</dcterms:title> </rdf:Description> </rdf:RDF>
