Although transcription factor-based systems are widely used, they are not well suited for certain applications due to a lack of functionality, limited available coding space, and potential immunogenicity of the regulatory proteins. RNA-based switches fill this gap since they can be designed to respond to effector compounds utilizing ligand-sensing aptamers. These systems are very modular since the aptamer can be combined with a variety of different expression platforms. RNA-based switches have been constructed that allow for controlling gene expression in diverse contexts. Here we discuss latest developments and applications of aptamer-based gene expression switches in eukaryotes.</dcterms:abstract> <dc:contributor>Hartig, Jörg S.</dc:contributor> <dc:language>eng</dc:language> <foaf:homepage rdf:resource="http://localhost:8080/jspui"/> <dc:date rdf:datatype="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema#dateTime">2020-01-14T14:34:27Z</dc:date> <dcterms:isPartOf rdf:resource="https://kops.uni-konstanz.de/rdf/resource/123456789/29"/> <bibo:uri rdf:resource="https://kops.uni-konstanz.de/handle/123456789/48223"/> <dc:contributor>Spöring, Maike</dc:contributor> <dcterms:issued>2020</dcterms:issued> <dcterms:available rdf:datatype="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema#dateTime">2020-01-14T14:34:27Z</dcterms:available> <dc:contributor>Finke, Monika</dc:contributor> <dc:creator>Spöring, Maike</dc:creator> <dcterms:title>Aptamers in RNA-based switches of gene expression</dcterms:title> <dc:creator>Finke, Monika</dc:creator> <dspace:isPartOfCollection rdf:resource="https://kops.uni-konstanz.de/rdf/resource/123456789/29"/> </rdf:Description> </rdf:RDF>
