We show that this class contains a unique element representing a causal formulation of relativistic dissipative fluid dynamics which (i) is equivalent to the classical descriptions by Eckart and Landau to first order in the coefficients of viscosity and heat conduction and (ii) has its signal speeds bounded sharply by the speed of light. Based on these properties, we propose this system as a natural candidate for the relativistic counterpart of the classical Navier-Stokes equations.</dcterms:abstract> <dc:contributor>Freistühler, Heinrich</dc:contributor> <dcterms:title>Causal dissipation for the relativistic dynamics of ideal gases</dcterms:title> <dc:creator>Temple, Blake</dc:creator> <dc:contributor>Temple, Blake</dc:contributor> <dspace:isPartOfCollection rdf:resource="https://kops.uni-konstanz.de/rdf/resource/123456789/39"/> <dc:language>eng</dc:language> <dcterms:available rdf:datatype="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema#dateTime">2017-10-11T12:53:30Z</dcterms:available> <dcterms:isPartOf rdf:resource="https://kops.uni-konstanz.de/rdf/resource/123456789/39"/> <void:sparqlEndpoint rdf:resource="http://localhost/fuseki/dspace/sparql"/> <foaf:homepage rdf:resource="http://localhost:8080/jspui"/> <dc:creator>Freistühler, Heinrich</dc:creator> <dc:date rdf:datatype="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema#dateTime">2017-10-11T12:53:30Z</dc:date> <bibo:uri rdf:resource="https://kops.uni-konstanz.de/handle/123456789/40307"/> </rdf:Description> </rdf:RDF>
