The paper provides arguments against an approach in terms of inflectional affixes, showing that the non-expression of this pronoun is in fact syntactically restricted. On the basis of the further finding that the non-expression of the expletive represents the continuation of a grammatical trait of older stages of the language in which the non-expression of subject pronouns was generally possible, a tentative proposal is put forward which crucially draws on information structure.</dcterms:abstract> <dcterms:available rdf:datatype="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema#dateTime">2014-01-17T08:50:51Z</dcterms:available> <dcterms:issued>2013</dcterms:issued> <dc:creator>Zimmermann, Michael</dc:creator> <dcterms:rights rdf:resource="http://nbn-resolving.org/urn:nbn:de:bsz:352-20140905103605204-4002607-1"/> <dc:contributor>Zimmermann, Michael</dc:contributor> <dc:rights>deposit-license</dc:rights> <dc:language>deu</dc:language> <dcterms:bibliographicCitation>Journal of French Language Studies ; 24 (2014), special issue 1. - S. 107-126</dcterms:bibliographicCitation> <dc:date rdf:datatype="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema#dateTime">2014-01-17T08:50:51Z</dc:date> <dc:creator>Kaiser, Georg A.</dc:creator> <dc:contributor>Kaiser, Georg A.</dc:contributor> <dcterms:title>On expletive subject pronoun drop in Colloquial French</dcterms:title> </rdf:Description> </rdf:RDF>
